:- 4.0 out of 5 stars from PlayingThePonzi -- Fascinating as a backdrop for Protestant Christianity : A book well worth reading for anyone interested in the history of philosophy, but even moreso for those interested in Christian theology. Herein is the basis for most Protestant Christian interpretations of Jesus and the Bible. Descartes provides those who agree with him certainty about a discrete Self that has 'free will,' and a God who 'is not a deceiver' thus rendering our perceptions and rational thought trustworthy. I disagree with him most every step of the way, but it is a fascinating read given its impact on the historical development of philosophy and western religion. - 1.0 out of 5 stars from Lana Abu Ayyash -- Don't recommend : This translation is tedious and horrible ... i would read a paragraph many many times and because of the bad translation it was really hard to understand ... i was surprised that the text is not hard to understand after i got myself another translation of the book ... i don't recommend it at all ( Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2013 )
- 4.0 out of 5 stars from Christopher Lansdown -- I recommend this version of the work : For a classic work of philosophy, you just have to read it, so this review is simply of the kindle edition. It is formatted well, and appropriately had a table of contents. I recommend this version of the work. ( Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2015 )
- 1.0 out of 5 stars from fondont -- Great Book, Terrible Edition : I assign Descartes' Meditations in my Introduction to Philosophy course, and I was looking for a new edition to try this semester. Big mistake. This edition is riddled with typos (some of which completely reverse the meaning of a passage)and translation errors. I highly recommend this book, but get any edition other than this one. ( Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2013 )

- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Feras -- Great Wisdom from a Great Man : I see clearly that Descartes was wrongly accused for leading the way to materialistic philosophy! This text need to be contemplated and analyzed from a mystic point of view in order to be properly understood. It is obvious that Descartes is a hermit, alchemist, and spiritual genius. I see why his philosophy was widely debated, readers with scientific orientation will not be able to uncover the depth of this highly spiritual work. ( Reviewed in Canada on October 28, 2014 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from maik-arnold -- Great philosophy in Ebook : This book provides not only insights into the division of body and mind, an attempt to proof God's existence, but presents also a practical philosophy of radical doubting of everything. Worth reading not only for students in Humanities. ( Reviewed in Germany on July 25, 2017 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Rhys -- Absolutely perfect : It is everything I wanted, it's simple but contains all the features I was hoping for. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on February 15, 2015 )
